Abstract:

The very first goal of Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations is “No Poverty”. Committed to achieving the SDGs in time, Government of India implements several flagship welfare programmes targeting multidimensional poverty. However, the Government has often been criticized for its inefficiency in targeting the potentially eligible families in all its anti-poverty programs. Hence it becomes vital to formulate a mechanism for the accurate identification of eligible beneficiary families especially in rural India, which can be applied across all central/state welfare programmes.
